Optical Fiber Based Temperature Sensors: A Review

The current generation is witnessing a huge interest in optical waveguides due to their salient features: they are of low cost, immune electromagnetic interference, easy multiplex, have compact size, etc. These features fibers make them useful tool for various sensing applications including medicine, automotives, biotechnology, food quality control, aerospace, physical and chemical monitoring. Among all the reported applications, been widely exploited measure variations surrounding environment. Optical fiber-based temperature sensors played crucial role this decade detect high fever tackle COVID-19-like pandemics. Recognizing major developments field fibers, article provides recent progress utilizing several configurations conventional fiber, photonic crystal Bragg grating fibers. Additionally, also highlights advantages, limitations, future possibilities area.
